Forum: audio Subject: Metadata in derivative audio formats

Greetings,

Here's s suggestion which I had sounded a while ago on the archivists-talk@yahoogroups.com list, which seems to be abandoned:

The derivative OGG files that are automatically generated by the archive do not seem to contain the metadata which are embedded in the original uploaded files, even when they support it as FLAC does.

Even though the archive's item's details page contains lots of metadata, the practice of embedding the metadata within the media files has many advantages (which I presume are known to archivists in here).

Regards,
Ahmad Gharbeia
